Panama

Well I am now resting high in the hills of Quito, Ecuador after an intense week in Panama. Things went better than I could have ever anticipated. We have some great shots of A. zeteki in the field-- though unfortunately these will be the last. The species is doomed to be extinct in the wild this year as the Chytrid fungus is now killing off the amphibian life in the site.

Atelopus zeteki

On a cheerier note, I was able to meet up with a producer I had worked with for some TV shows some time back from the BBC. I worked with the entire crew for a lot of my time in Panama and had a wonderful time and learned a lot. With this crew was the host of the show, none other than Sir David Attenborough. I was honored to spend quite a bit of time with him during filming and down time. We got talking about Operation Atelopus and he was very generous in granting me time for some interviews. He also will be featured in the intoduction of the films. The entire BBC crew were amazing to work with and spend time with and I am grateful to each and every one of them for the time we could spend together. With some luck, hopefully OA will reach a calliber where we can soon have a special air on television.

So in closing, please continue to help us spread the word of OA!

Also, we hope you like the changes to the site, it's coming along very nicely now. There are quite a few photos up now in the gallery from my personal stock as well as some donated images. We are constantly looking for high quality images of Atelopus that we don't have documented on the site, so offers of images are greatly appreciated, and photo credits will be given.

If you are myspace hip and have not added us yet, please do so and help us spread the word!
